Why Choose a CMI Qualification?

At Endeavour Training & Consultancy (ET&C) we thought long and hard about the kind of qualifications we wanted to offer to individuals and businesses. We spoke with industry experts, awarding bodies, and potential customers, and the realisation that professional status was becoming increasingly important, focused our attention on one of the best possible options for management and leadership qualifications.

Aligning the company with the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), the UKs only institute warranting the Royal Charter in management and leadership was a choice based on personal experience as well as professional, for more than one reason.

CMI is the only chartered professional body in the UK dedicated to promoting the highest standards in management and leadership excellence and have a membership of more than 100,000, which is growing every day.

The institute is the only chartered body in the UK that awards management and leadership qualifications, and the only body that awards Chartered Manager status, the hallmark of any professional manager. This means that CMI literally set the standards that others must follow.

CMI’s ability to understand managers’ needs was evident from the start in the 1950s when they developed the UK’s first diploma in management studies. They have continued to be at the forefront of management training ever since. Unsurprisingly CMI has had a few names in the past beginning with the British Institute of Management to the Institute of Management in the 1990s. In 2002, CMI’s excellence was recognised with Chartered status. So these days they are best known simply as CMI.

What does chartered status mean?

  • Management is recognised as a profession in its own right
  • The Institute is the pre-eminent authority for the profession of management; its acts as a standard bearer for the profession
  • Institute members have a responsibility to uphold professional standards and to keep their skills and competences up to date; this is an undertaking contained in the CMI Code of Practice for Professional Managers and the IC Code of Professional Conduct and Practice

It is because of this ET&C works with CMI and promotes their qualifications. We not only promote them professionally, we endorse them personally.
